Bard Falls

Bard Falls is tucked away in Pisgah National Forest in Western North Carolina. Getting there takes you several miles down winding dirt roads before you finally reach the small trailhead with limited parking. Luckily, when I arrived, I was the only vehicle there.

The hike was roughly two miles each way, making it about a four-mile round trip, with around 531 feet of elevation change. The trail itself was fairly manageable, winding through the forest and following the landscape toward the falls.

Bard Falls is small compared with many of the waterfalls scattered throughout Western North Carolina, but that wasn't really what made the trip worthwhile. Its more remote location, quiet surroundings, and lack of crowds gave it a completely different feel. There was something peaceful about reaching a waterfall tucked away in the forest and having the place entirely to myself.
